We're investing in new buses for services across the region

Wednesday, March 08 2017
We're introducing 13 new single decker buses for local routes across Swindon and Wiltshire.
“Since taking the reigns at Thamesdown Transport, we’ve been listening to those who use our services here, and our customers have been very clear about the enhancements they would like to see,” said Andrew Wickham, managing director of Thamesdown Transport.
“We have already begun to make improvements - including scrapping the previous exact change policy. And now we’re making a significant investment to introduce 13 brand new buses.
“The new buses will provide comfort and reliability. And I am delighted that these new vehicles will include additional improvements to benefit those travelling with us here.”
The buses will also feature full destination displays - front and rear - with white LEDs, giving greater clarity, particularly after dark, free WiFi and USB charging points for those using smart devices, new lighter coloured flooring to assist partially sighted customers and those suffering dementia, plus a new style of seating for passengers.
“All of our new vehicles are to Euro 6 vehicle standards, helping to reduce harmful emissions.
“We make it our business to listen to the views of those using our buses - and will make efforts to enhance our services wherever we can over the coming months and years.”
